About this product

15" Point Source Close Cluster Array Element for Install and Touring Applications

MC15-R

The Bi-amped 3-way full range MC15-R is a compact 15" 990-Watt asymmetrical close cluster array element that is ideally suited to a broad range of speech and music sound reinforcement applications in fixed installation, portable and touring audio systems. The MC15-R is designed to work in conjunction with Lake DSP and Lab Gruppen amplification, providing optimal FOH performance, as well as offering considerable flexibility to readily adapt to varying venue requirements.

Custom-Engineered Drivers

Turbosound is recognised the world over for designing and building some of the most iconic loudspeakers and subwoofers. We take meticulous care and pride in maintaining that reputation by utilising only drivers designed specifically for each application – it’s what sets us apart from the competition. Featuring 15" neodymium cone low frequency drivers and 1 dual concentric MF/HF compression driver, the MC15-R delivers unparalleled clarity and intelligibility in a compact enclosure that belies its impressive performance. Due to its 30° horizontal by 0 to -30° asymmetrical vertical dispersion pattern, the MC15-R provides exact coverage to form close cluster arrays, with unique innovative and loading of the MHF section horn allows horn to horn summation in both horizontal and vertical planes, Arrays of 2 rows of cabinets then give a dispersion 30° horizontal by 60° vertical per column of 2 cabinets. MC15-R arrays can be used as a standalone system with or without subwoofers and in distributed fill applications.

Construction and Connectivity

An integral suspension system engineered to meet BGV-C1 specifications is provided for suspending or ground stacking multiple MC15-R elements per hang guided by a WLL safety factor. Designed for speed and simplicity of use, custom-engineered MC15-FB fly-bar, MC15-RS Rigging Set and MC15-RC Rigging Chain Bridle are available as separate accessories. The Manchester MS121, MS215, MS218 subwoofers is specifically designed for use with MC15-R, providing additional low frequency extension and impact for more demanding sound reinforcement applications. Finished in ultra-hard wearing black polyurea, the cabinet is constructed from 15 mm (5/8") birch plywood and includes a rugged powder coated perforated steel mesh grille backed with reticulated foam. The rear panel connector plate carries NL4 connectors for input and link connections to additional enclosures.

Integration with Lab Gruppen PLM+

With the ever-increasing complexity of modern-day line array systems. Seamless integration with the Lab Gruppen PLM+ is a prerequisite for the MANCHESTER series from Turbosound. Our engineers have prepared and meticulously designed a series of presets that will allow the user to achieve the maximum system performance and consistency possible. These can be found within the download section.

Acoustic Simulation Tools

EASE GLL files are provided for EASE Focus 3 Acoustic Simulation Software, which is available for free download. This allows accurate calculation of both acoustic coverage and suspension pick point selection for tilting and aiming the array at the desired angle.

Architecture and Engineering Specifications

The loudspeaker shall be of the three-way bi-amp switchable passive type consisting of one 15" (380 mm) LF driver and one 1.4" (36 mm) exit MHF compression driver (MF:4"/100 mm Voice Coil diameter, HF 2.5"/65 mm Voice Coil diameter). Performance specifications of a typical production unit shall meet or exceed the following: frequency response, measured with swept sine wave input, shall be flat within ±3 dB from 55 Hz to 20 kHz and within -10 dB from 39 Hz to 20 kHz. Nominal dispersion, at -6 dB points, shall average 30° H x 0 -30° V. Nominal impedance shall be bi-amp mode: MHF: 12 Ohms, LF: 8 Ohms Power handling shall be MHF: 190 Watts continuous, 760 Watts peak, LF: 800 Watts continuous, 3200 Watts peak. Sensitivity, measured on axis, mean averaged over the stated bandwidth, shall be MHF: 117.5 dB, 1 Watt @ 1 metre, LF: 101 dB, 1 Watt @ 1 metre. Maximum SPL of 144 dB in Bi-Amp mode (Average Peak level) over overlap bandwidth. SPL level at 1 m under free field conditions, using pink noise with crest factor 4, with dedicated pre-set. Dimensions: 700 high x 522 wide x 648 mm deep (27.6 x 24 x 18.1"). Net weight: 47.2 kg (104.05 lbs). The loudspeaker system shall be the Turbosound MC15-R. No other loudspeaker shall be acceptable unless submitted data from an independent test laboratory verifies that the above combined performance/size specifications are equalled or exceeded.
